Following an accident involving the Kanchankanya Express in West Bengal, the Railway Board has reduced the maximum speed limit of Vande Bharat and Gatimaan Express trains from 160 km/h to 130 km/h. The indigenous technology 'Kavach' is being implemented to prevent train collisions on the New Delhi to Jhansi route. Until...

the installation of 'Kavach' is complete, train speeds will be reduced. This includes the Shatabdi Express. While the speed has been reduced, the timings of other trains on this route will remain unchanged. This decision was made after testing by the Railway Board. Premium, luxury, and high-speed trains like Vande Bharat, Gatimaan, Shatabdi, and Rajdhani Express typically maintain an average speed of 130 km/h on the Delhi to Bhopal track. They reach speeds of up to 160 km/h only between Delhi and Agra due to straighter tracks. The Delhi-Agra section (187 km) takes approximately 1 hour 36 minutes to 1 hour 40 minutes. Speed is reduced after Agra due to track curves near Mathura. The 118 km journey from Agra to Gwalior takes about 1 hour 12 minutes, indicating a slower pace. The same pattern continues for subsequent stations. When the Railway Board decided to reduce speeds, concerns arose about its impact on other trains. Initial close monitoring of train operations led to the decision to maintain existing timings for other trains. 'Kavach' is an automatic train protection system that was initiated in 2012 by the Indian Railways. This technology prevents train collisions by automatically stopping a train if it jumps a signal. It uses high-frequency radio communication to prevent head-on collisions and rear-end collisions on the same track. 'Kavach' automatically controls train speed using the brakes in case of brake failure. It is connected to signals and provides an alert to the loco pilot through the On-Board Display of Signal Aspect system. Following the Bengal incident, the North Central Railway Prayagraj headquarters recommended to the Railway Board that train speeds be reduced until the installation of 'Kavach' is complete. Surveys have commenced for the installation of 'Kavach' between Delhi and Bina. The project has been approved by the Railway Board, but it is expensive and involves installation of equipment alongside the track, as well as in the signaling and engine systems. The exact duration of the project is unknown, but work will begin soon. Reducing speeds to 130 km/h for Vande Bharat and Gatimaan Express will not impact the timings of other trains. This has been verified through testing. Surveys for the installation of 'Kavach' on the Dholpur-Bina section have begun. This project was approved earlier and will commence soon.

rahi hai. Jab tak 'Kavach' ka kaam pura nahi hota, tab tak trains ki speed kam hi rakhi jaayegi. Ismein Shatabdi Express ko bhi shamil kiya gaya hai. Speed kam karne se, is route par other trains ke timings mein koi badlaav nahi aayega. Railway Board ne yeh decision, testing karne ke baad liya hai. Aage ke stations ke liye bhi yahi situation hai. Jab Railway Board ne trains ki speed kam karne ka decision liya, to yeh sawal khade hue ki speed kam hone se other trains ke operation par fark padega. Shuruat mein, trains ke operation par baarik nazar rakhti gai. Iske baad, yeh decision liya gaya ki other trains ke timings mein koi badlaav nahi kiya jaayega. 'Kavach' ek automatic train protection system hai, jise Indian Railways ne 2012 mein shuru kiya tha. Is technology mein, signal jump karne par, train khud hi ruk jaati hai. 'Kavach' mein high-frequency radio communication ka istemal kiya jaata hai. Railway officials ke maanene mein, is kaam ko Board se approval mil chuki hai, lekin ismein bahut zyada kharch hota hai. Iske alaawa, track ke bagal mein equipment lagaane ke saath hi, signaling aur engine mein bhi equipment lagae jaate hain. Ismein kitna time lagega, yeh batana abhi mushkil hai, lekin kaam jaldi hi shuru ho jaayega. Vande Bharat aur Gatimaan Express ki speed ko 160 se ghatakar 130 kar diya gaya hai. Speed kam karne se, in trains sahait other gaadiyon ke time par koi fark nahi padega. Iska parikshan kara liya gaya hai. Dholpur-Bina railkhanch mein, 'Kavach' system ka survey shuru kar diya gaya hai. Yeh kaam pehle se approved hai, jaldi hi iska kaam shuru ho jaayega.
