On Friday night, two goods trains were placing stones on the up and down lines near Rangpara, between Baghnapara and Kalna stations. One of the wagons on the off-line derailed around 4 am on Saturday. Railway authorities attribute the derailment to loose soil caused by rain. Railway workers from Katwa and Nabadwip were dispatched to the site to manage the situation. The up line was completely closed, and down line traffic was also affected. Commuters on the Bandel-Katwa branch faced significant travel challenges as a result.
