The SP, Swarn Prabhat, announced a reward of ₹25,000 for the SIT, who played a significant role in identifying the criminals through CCTV footage. The incident occurred on Saturday afternoon, when two bike-borne criminals abducted the child from near his house. The criminals then fled towards Mirganj. The child's father, Bablu Singh, reported the incident to Dial 112, but the police did not arrive promptly, angering the villagers who blocked the Mirganj-Gopalganj road in protest.

Bachche ke papa, Bablu Singh ne Dial 112 pe report kiya, lekin police jaldi nahi pahunchi, jisse gaon wale naraz ho gaye aur Mirganj-Gopalganj road block kar diya.
