ticketless travel, resulting in a collection of ₹96.75 crore in fines. The highest number of ticketless passengers are found in the Danapur and Sonpur divisions of the East Central Railway. The Railway authorities are conducting special drives to curb this issue, including deploying RPF personnel, railway officers, supervisors, and ticket examiners at major stations. Despite these efforts, ticketless travel continues, even extending to AC coaches of express and superfast trains. The East Central Railway collected ₹64.17 lakh in fines from over 12,000 ticketless passengers in a single day on August 31st, 2023.
