Metro, ring road, riverfront, airport expansion: Can BJP’s big projects counter Pune’s civic woes?

The upcoming Maharashtra assembly elections in Pune city are expected to be fiercely contested. The BJP, which had swept all eight assembly seats in 2014, is facing a challenge from the MVA alliance, which comprises the NCP, Congress, and Shiv Sena (UBT). The MVA is capitalizing on issues like infrastructure woes,...

traffic chaos, air pollution, and rising crime. The absence of civic polls for the past three years has also led to resentment against the incumbents. The BJP is banking on its development projects, including the Metro rail, riverfront development, and the new airport terminal. However, the MVA is confident of winning, citing public dissatisfaction with the BJP's performance. Key seats being contested include Hadapsar, Wadgaonsheri, Khadakwasla, Parvati, Shivajinagar, Kasba Peth, and Pune Cantonment. The Congress is looking to retain its hold on the Kasba Peth seat, which it won in a by-election. The BJP is hoping to retain its hold on five seats, but its incumbents face tough competition.

Pune city mein aane waale Maharashtra assembly elections mein bahut jhagda hone wala hai. 2014 mein BJP ne saare aath assembly seats jeet li the, lekin ab MVA alliance (NCP, Congress aur Shiv Sena (UBT)) unko takkar de raha hai. MVA, infrastructure problems, traffic jam, pollution aur crime jaise issues ko...

lekar BJP par attack kar raha hai. Teeno saal se civic polls nahi hone ki wajah se bhi public mein BJP ke khilaf narazgi hai. BJP, apne development projects jaise Metro rail, riverfront development aur new airport terminal par bharosa kar raha hai. Lekin MVA ko yakin hai ki public BJP se khush nahin hai aur woh jeet jaayenge. Kuch important seats pe jhagda hai, jaise Hadapsar, Wadgaonsheri, Khadakwasla, Parvati, Shivajinagar, Kasba Peth aur Pune Cantonment. Congress, Kasba Peth seat ko pakad ke rakhna chahta hai, jo unhone by-election mein jeet li thi. BJP, apne paanch seats pe pakad banaye rakhna chahta hai, lekin unke incumbents ko MVA aur BJP ke andar hi logo se tough fight karna padega.

These days, every other day, we are getting requests from members to allow email login to their FB-based IRI account. 10 years ago, we had given the option for users to login through FaceBook - in retrospect, this was a mistake. These days, apparently, users are quitting FaceBook in droves because...
