Additionally, 318.87 RKM have been electrified in Bihar and 864.94 RKM in West Bengal. Electrification aims to reduce dependence on crude oil, decrease pollution, save foreign exchange, and improve train speed and efficiency. The NFR is working with IRCON (Indian Railway Construction International Limited) and RITES (Rail India Technical and Economic Service) to complete the electrification project.
