Child Development and Kodarma MP, Annapurnа Devi, took the initiative to get the approval from Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw for the halt construction. This comes after years of demand by the villagers, who started their campaign in 1980. The demand gained momentum with the formation of the Sijua Halt Construction Struggle Committee, which even resorted to blocking railway tracks in 1996 and 2014. The approval will directly benefit the residents of over a dozen villages in the Bengaabad and Gandey blocks, including Sijua, Naitand, Shivrajpur, Navadih, Virajpur, Gopalpur, Pratapgarh, Pandnatand, Mahuataand, Godlitand, Charghara, Goradih, Gadi, and Kundlohari.
