NFR's Chief Public Relations Officer (CPRO) Sabysachi Dey stated that sufficient funds have been allocated for infrastructure and safety related work. Electrification projects for the NFR, including Katihar, have received ₹694.69 crore. NFR has allocated ₹8378.53 crore for new lines and doubling projects, with an emphasis on safety and operations. Track renewal and bridge works have received ₹1305.07 crore, while signaling and telecom have been allocated ₹170 crore. Passenger amenities at stations will be improved with ₹537 crore. Across the northeast, 18 ongoing railway projects with a total length of 1,368 kilometers and a total investment of ₹74,972 crore are underway. 60 stations on the NFR will be redeveloped under the 'Amrit Bharat Station' scheme, including 50 in Assam, 4 in Tripura, and one each in Arunachal Pradesh, Manipur, Meghalaya, Mizoram, Nagaland, and Sikkim. NFR has constructed a record 470 Road Over Bridges/Road Under Bridges since 2014 to enhance safety for road and rail users. The Katihar division will see the construction of a four-lane railway track between Katihar-Mukurya and Katihar-Kumedpur. The doubling work is expected to be completed by the end of this financial year. The Katihar division will also see the development of 18 railway stations under the 'Amrit Bharat' scheme. The NFR is also implementing an advanced version of the Kavach-4 safety system, which uses a combination of hardware, software, optical fiber, telecom towers, on-track systems, stations, and data center management. This year, the Indian Railways plans to manufacture 10,000 general coaches in addition to the 2,500 already planned.
