They proposed specific short-term solutions, including suburban services with Guwahati and Dibrugarh as hubs, resumption of specific train routes and services like Dekargaon-Dibrugarh intercity (05819), Mariani-Jorhat-Golaghat-Dimapur passenger (55904), and 12525/26 Dibrugarh-Kolkata, along with extensions and restoration of pre-Covid stoppages. They also suggested long-term improvements like new railway lines connecting Sibsagar with Jorhat, Salona with Khumtai, Dibrugarh with Kanubari, and the development of Dhamalgaon Jn with an integrated terminal. ARPA stressed the need for rationalized train routes and prioritized passage for trains connecting the Northeast to reduce travel time, given its remoteness from the national capital.
