Sunita Yadav, a resident of George Town, Bharadwajpuram Colony, had booked a ticket on the Kalka-Howrah Mail (12312) to Howrah. On November 14, 2019, her bag, containing four gold bangles worth Rs. 25,000, a mobile phone, Rs. 9,000, and documents, was stolen during the journey. She filed a complaint with the Government Railway Police (GRP) after the incident. Mughalsarai GRP registered a case on December 8, but the case remained stalled. Sunita then filed a case with the District Consumer Forum on November 17, 2021. The forum awarded an additional Rs. 2,000 to the complainant for inconvenience and other expenses, and ordered the railway to pay the compensation and stolen amount within two months.

District Consumer Forum ne shikayatkarata ko hui taklif ke liye jurmana aur anya kharch ke liye kul do hazaar rupaye atirik bhugaatan karne ka nirdhesh diya gaya hai. Saath hi aayog ne apne aadesh mein kaha hai ki harjana aur chori ki rakam ko agle do mahine tak bhugaatan karna hoga.
