finished by December 2022, but the deadline has been repeatedly extended. While the track laying is complete between Tatanagar and Adityapur, the electrification work is still ongoing. The Adityapur railway yard remodelling is planned for August 2025 and Tatanagar yard remodelling for January 2025. Once completed, the third line will improve freight transportation on the Howrah-Mumbai rail route, benefiting steel and power plants. It will also facilitate faster transportation of raw materials and finished products, and provide additional track capacity for passenger trains and freight trains, allowing them to run on schedule.
