Passengers on the Panchanganga Express were stranded for hours before being halted at Donigal due to the landslide. Some passengers used jeeps to reach Sakleshpur and catch a bus to Bengaluru. The South Western Railway (SWR) confirmed that a large boulder had fallen on the track, further complicated by subsequent landslips. SWR provided stranded passengers with food and water, arranged buses for 1,980 passengers, and short-terminated or cancelled 10 trains to facilitate restoration work. The affected section had been closed for over 10 days due to a previous landslide on July 26, with services resuming only on Thursday after safety clearance.
