Lesser frequency of trains along Howrah Maidan-Esplanade section of Kolkata Metro from September 8

Kolkata Metro will reduce service frequency on the Howrah Maidan-Esplanade line during non-peak hours from Sunday onwards due to emergency maintenance. rail with aluminum on the Dakshineswar-New Garia line is complete. On Saturday night, 200 meters of steel third rail will be replaced with aluminum at Girish Park siding. This is part of a larger project to replace the entire steel third rail with aluminum, reducing energy loss by 84%. The project aims to introduce 35 km of aluminum third rail within the next two years.
