Can anyone tell me why most of sub urban trains are run by EMU rather than MEMU. What advantage of EMU makes it good for sub urban trains over MEMU?

MEMU's are mainline multiple unit they can be subjected to overtake by Mail/Exp/SF...whereas EMU has their dedicated tracks & wont be overtaken.

Overtaking comes under control section. Its upto him to decide.
I am asking why are most sub urban train EMU rather than MEMU.
And regarding tracks, EMU also uses Mail.Exp track. And it also gets overtaken by trains
For eg. In Chennai. From Tamabaram to CGL. Both travels in same track. Normal trains do overtake them, for which EMU is holded at

EMU is designed for city use whereas MEMU is designed for rural areas primarily. EMUs have large doors, large aisles, height of door to match platform height ( no steps present and allows one to directly get into a coach), no toilets. These features definitely helps in the easy movement of people in and out of the coaches. Whereas MEMu trains are designed in such a way that they can be boarded even from low level platforms ( common in rural areas), few long distance MEMUs have toilets, etc.

EMU trains are preferred over MEMU trains because of acceleration which holds extreme importance. The design of EMU trains is perfectly fit for suburban services. Speed, large doors, good ventilation also makes EMU perfect choice.

EMU has better acceleration compared to MEMU and lighter in weight when compared to MEMU.

These days, every other day, we are getting requests from members to allow email login to their FB-based IRI account. 10 years ago, we had given the option for users to login through FaceBook - in retrospect, this was a mistake. These days, apparently, users are quitting FaceBook in droves because...
