The Koilaghat Building in Kolkata, located on the banks of the Hooghly River, is a historical landmark that served as the headquarters of the Eastern Railway. General Post Office and Reserve Bank of India, played a crucial role in the city's history. The fort, once situated at the location of today's Shipping Corporation of India and Customs House, was used by Siraj-ud-Daulah to evacuate during his attack on Kolkata in 1756. The British later moved the fort to the present Maidan due to security concerns. The Koilaghat Building itself was built as a coal depot for the East India Railway in the late 19th century. It underwent several renovations and expansions as the East India Railway expanded. After the nationalization of the East India Railway in 1952, the Koilaghat Building became part of the newly formed Eastern Railway Zone. Today, the Koilaghat Building stands as a testament to the rich history and heritage of the Eastern Railway, playing a significant role in the development of the region's transport network.

city ke history mein bahut important role khela hai. Fort, jo aaj Shipping Corporation of India aur Customs House ke beech mein tha, 1756 mein Siraj-ud-Daulah ne Kolkata par attack karte waqt, evacutate karne ke liye use kiya tha. British logon ne security ki wajah se fort ko aaj ke Maidan mein shift kar diya tha. Koilaghat Building khud late 19th century mein East India Railway ke liye coal depot ke roop mein banaya gaya tha. East India Railway ke expand hone ke saath hi building mein kaafi renovation aur expansion bhi kiye gaye. 1952 mein East India Railway ke nationalization hone ke baad, Koilaghat Building, newly formed Eastern Railway Zone ka part ban gaya. Aaj, Koilaghat Building, Eastern Railway ke rich history aur heritage ki nishani hai, aur isne region ke transport network ke development mein bahut important role khela hai.
