Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan has accused Union Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw of making politically motivated statements regarding Kerala's alleged lack of cooperation in railway development. He argues that the Railway Minister's statement in Parliament regarding the Angamali-Sabari railway line construction is misleading and amounts to a cover-up for the central...

government's failure to fulfill its responsibilities. The Angamali-Sabari line was announced in the 1997-98 Railway budget and Kerala has consistently provided all necessary support, including approving the alignment and initiating land acquisition for 70 km from Angamali to Ramappuram. Kerala even committed to bearing 50% of the project cost. However, the central government and the Railway Ministry have shown a lack of commitment and delayed the project, leading to a significant increase in the estimated cost from INR 2815 crore to INR 3811 crore (a 36% increase). The central government is now attempting to burden Kerala with this increased cost. The Chief Minister clarifies that Kerala does not oppose the new Chengannur-Pamba line but that the central government has not yet made any requests to the state regarding this project. The central government also failed to allocate funds in the recent budget for Kerala's ongoing railway projects, including Thalassery-Nanjangode, Nilambur-Mysore, and Angamali-Sabari. The Chief Minister accuses the Union Railway Minister of spreading misinformation by claiming that funds were allocated for the Angamali-Sabari line but were not utilized by Kerala. He clarifies that the INR 2125 crore allocated was actually for land acquisition across Kerala, not just for the Sabari line. Kerala has already deposited INR 1823 crore for three railway lines. The Chief Minister insists that Kerala has been proactive in its efforts to revive the Sabari line and has written multiple letters to the Union Railway Minister requesting funds and intervention for various railway projects. Despite numerous communications, Kerala has received no positive response from the central government. The Chief Minister concludes by stating that Kerala has experienced consistent difficulties in dealing with the Railway Ministry.

Central government ne recent budget mein Kerala ke chal rahe railway projects ke liye bhi koi funds allocate nahi kiye, jisme Thalassery-Nanjangode, Nilambur-Mysore, aur Angamali-Sabari bhi shamil hain. Mukhya Mantri ne Union Railway Minister par galat jankari failane ka ilzaam lagaya aur kaha ki unhone ye daava kiya tha ki Angamali-Sabari line ke liye funds allocate kiye gaye the, lekin Kerala ne unka istemal nahi kiya. Unhone saaf kiya ki INR 2125 crore jo allocate kiye gaye the, woh sirf Sabari line ke liye nahi balki pure Kerala mein jaanmaal liye jaane ke liye the.
